| Clint
got his car when he was 14. He
used his lawn mowing/snow shovelling money to buy
a used MGB. He was so thrilled. He invited each
of his friends to help him work on his car to get
it running for his 16th birthday.....in two years.
It
was just what this group of guys needed, focus,
challenge, and learning. They would have someone
read the manuals and the others would be under,
over, inside, outside, and everywhere following
the directions. Spare time was spent making money
mowing lawns to buy parts and tools. The garage
was a real clutter but the boys were having fun
and teaching each other all about the car.
Soon, the 16th
birthday arrived and so did the license. Then,
after a little extra electrical work, Clint was
behind the wheel of his own car. He was so proud.
There was still a little backfiring problem, but
that turned out to be part of his personal logo.
Everyone in town knew the guy in the little green
MGB. In fact, he was stopped quite few times and
asked what kind of car it was. He hasn't had much
time since then for shows or girls, but he has
learned the value of his time, the value of the
efforts to bring his car up to speed, and the
value of having friends around to help.
